Get diggin’ for your dinner! Check out an allotment and begin a whole new way of life!

Spring is appearing between the rain clouds and although the land is still quite wet, it is time to start thinking about your garden.

Have you considered growing your own vegetables – it ticks a lot of boxes in the current climate – beat the recession by growing what you want, when you want it – eliminate chemicals from your food by growing the old-fashioned way – get fresh air and exercise without paying gym fees!

Here at Hillside Farm we rent allotments and welcome beginners as well as the more accomplished! You can choose a size that suits you, we’ll plough and rotavate it and give you farmyard manure to get started. After that, you get digging and reap the harvest in the summertime. This is an organic farm so pesticides and herbicides are not permitted — there are excellent ways to grow vegetables without using chemicals and your produce will taste so much better too!

We have space for you to have a tea-break and there are facilities for a picnic or BBQ. Your children are welcome, but because we are a working farm, we can’t allow pets. Organic compost and seeds are available to purchase here.

Give Sean a ring on 086–6021962 and check out our Facebook page ( and get diggin’ for your dinner!
